New Delhi: Noted lawyer Mehmood Paracha, who has been fighting many terror- cases of Muslim youths across the country, is reportedly getting threatening calls from the under- world Don Ravi Pujari.
Talking to Muslim Mirror Mr Paracha said that he had received a threatening sms today at 5 pm itself .The sms says ’stop talking to press, stop mentioning anyone’s name otherwise i will not only kill you but also cut your hands and feet as well as your tongue- Ravi Pujari (‘Tum press se baat karna band kardo, kisi ka naam lena band kardo nahi to tumhe jaan se hi nahi marenge balki tumhara haath pair aur tumhari zubaan bhi kaat denge ‘ Ravi Pujari)
Mr Pracha said that he has been receiving threatening calls from different international mobile numbers but the sms is being sent from one particular number. Mentioning clearly the name of Mr Rakesh Maria, the Mumbai Police Commissioner Mr Paracha said that ‘its Maria who is using his underworld connections to eliminate me’.
The problem started the very next day after the press statement of Adv Mehmood Pracha about the dubious role of Maharashtra ATS chief Rakesh Maria,now Mumbai Police commissioner, in terror related cases.Pracha alleged that he has substantial evidence against Rakesh Maria who is involved in shielding of real culprits and fabricating innocents in terror cases. Pracha demanded that Rakesh Maria should be arrested in the same terror laws for his activities
Its to be noted that Mr Paracha is planning to lodge FIR against Rakesh Maria for implicating Himayat Baig in German Bakery blast case.
Calling it cowardly attempt to silent the voice of the dissent, human rights organization, Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) has condemned the alleged death threats to Pracha saying it is not only threat to him but also to the Constitution of India which guarantees all its citizens equality before law and right to be defended by lawyer of its own choice.
APCR’s National Coordinator Akhlaq Ahmad said advocate Pracha is only trying to perform his constitutional and professional duty who is fighting more than seventy terror cases in Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujrat, Andhra Pradesh & U.P including high profile cases of Mirza Himayat Beg who is convicted to death sentence by sessions court of Pune in German Bakery Bomb Blast case & Qateel Siddiqui Murder Case in Yerwada Jail, Pune. He is also fighting the case of journalist Mohd Kazmi accused in Israeli Diplomat Car blast case.
It is said SMS’es and Phone Calls from International numbers claiming from Ravi Pujari is consistently threatening Adv Paracha not to come Mumbai and Pune again otherwise he will be killed. Don Pujari believed to be close associate of ATS Maharashtra. Don Pujari was also blamed for killing of Adv Shahid Azmi (allegedly at the behest of Rakesh Maria) who had been pleading many Muslim boys accused in terror acts.

It is to be mentioned here that three Investing agencies Viz; NIA, Special Cell Delhi and Bangalore CCB have given clean chit to Himayat Beg who was sentenced to death in the German bakery blast case. Pracha has successfully argued that MCOCA cannot be slapped on terror-accused if he is arrested under UAPA. The Court upheld his argument and MCOCA has been withdrawn from those Muslim youths in Maharashtra who has been arrested on terror charges. The withdrawal of MCOCA will pave the way for release of dozens of Muslim youths who have been languishing in jails for years.
The APCR has demanded that the Centre should take strong action against anti national Dons and criminals who are posing threat to the country’s security, sovereignty and integrity as well as its Constitution. Courtesy: Muslim Mirror
